According to UNEP (United Nations Environment Program), the green economy is the one that results in improved human wellbeing and social equity, whilst significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.

As this international body points out on its Green Economy Report, it is estimated that if 2% of the world's gross domestic product were destined for the transformation of the current economy into a green economy, it would grow at the same rate until 2050 and from that moment, the growing rate would increase; In addition to the social and environmental benefits that would be achieved.
