Common knowledge is often the best way for saving in our domestic economy. Our grandparents are pioneers in the art of making ends meet and make the most of household resources without consuming excessively. Which of these tricks can we use in our daily lives to save in a sustainable way?

Many people are allergic to insecticides, which can also be harmful to the ozone layer in case of sprays. The solution to prevent moths from eating our clothes is to sprinkle a few grains of black pepper in closets. The moths will not approach and that's how people used to keep their clothes in perfect condition.
Surely one of the most beautiful childhood memories that we all keep has to do with those afternoons in our grandma’s kitchen, watching her cook and feeling fully protected.
Perhaps a fact that helped was that grandma knew that disconnecting the heating and opening the turned off oven after cooking provided a very comfortable –and free- heat.
Do you have a pressure cooker at home? It is likely. Did you ever used? It is probably not. Well, it's time to change that. Did you know that vegetables are much better steamed in a pressure cooker? Besides, you will save energy because all the food is prepared in a short time.
This trick has to do with ironing. As far as possible, it is recommended to avoid using it whenever you need to iron a garment. Get used to accumulate a lot of clothing to use it. You will save energy, time and money.
Finally, try to buy fresh products daily or at most every two days. Our grandmothers would go regularly to the market: not only you will help boost local responsible consumption, but you will also ensure that the produce does not expire and will avoid throwing food away.
